There are several different forms of idle timeout or similar. We have outlined each different action with a solution if appropriate.
1. In one instance this is where your modem hangs up after 'x' minutes. This happens because your computer settings have been programmed that way. To change this setting follow the instructions below and this should eliminate.
Solution: This should be at least 20 minutes or more. To change this setting follow the instructions below.
- Go To Start
- Settings
- Control Panel
- Modems
- Properties
- Connection
- Then either turn it off or set it to something realistic like 60 minutes
- Click Apply
- Close and save settings
2. If you have an unlimited hours account and you leave your computer online but are not using it Integrity will disconnect you automatically after a 20 minute period of inactivity. This is also called an idle timeout.
3. Again, on an unlimited hours account if you are connected for 4 hours continuously we will disconnect you for a 20 minute period and you are then free to reconnect. This is called a session timeout and is to stop customers from being connected continuously as this is a permanent connection and is charged accordingly.
4. There is another setting in Outlook Express that will disconnect you after you have sent an email. You will notice when you press Send/Receive a dialogue box comes up to show your computer checking the mail. Inside you will see a setting with a tick box that says 'Hang up after sending and receiving'. This means every time you send an email your computer will automatically disconnect you from the Internet.
Solution: To change this setting follow the instructions below.
