Cheaper 56k modems often have problem trying to connect at V.90. If you are experiencing random disconnects or are unable to establish a connection we recommend reducing the maximum connect speed down to 41,333 bps. If you still experience frequent disconnects or difficulty getting connected, you may have no other choice but to disable 56k support altogether.
Solution: Put this initialisation string into your system. For win95/98 go to:
- My Computer
- Dial Up Networking
- Integrity (right Click) then Properties
- Configure
- Connection
- Advanced
- Then put one of the strings below into "Extra settings."
- If your modem responds with "Modem not Responding" then try one of the other initilisation strings.
+MS=V90,,,,,41333 (5 commas) -V90=12 +MS=12,1,32000,41333
If you still experience frequent disconnects or difficulty getting connected, you may have no other choice but to disable 56k support altogether. To limit your modem to 33.6k or a V.34 modem try one of following.
+MS=11,1,14400,33600 +MS=V34,1,14400,33600 +MS=V34 -V90=0
